Where Should I Love?

I loved you at the frozen shore,
the land called Winter's Wail,
where many hearts have docked before,
but not a ship could sail.
I loved you at the apple's cane
wherein no fruit could birth;
and supped at wells that washed in vain
the salt which scorched the earth.
I loved you where the sparrows dwelled
in wait upon the morn,
where broken wings had doomed to fell
the life the sky had shorn.
I loved you where in exile pined,
the secret place they call My Mind.
